Website migration for The Survivors Trust

The Survivors Trust is a national membership organisation supporting specialist rape and sexual abuse services in the voluntary sector.

Why HAK?

The Survivors Trust’s original website was ‘exorbitantly priced and inflexible’, so they went looking for a team to bring costs down and ease of use up.

Site Migration

The first step was to move The Survivors Trust’s website away from the original, expensive and inflexible option and over to WordPress. We ensured that all pages and content were transferred across and kept in tact. From this point we could design and streamline the site with ease.

Full site redesign

Following a branding refresh, we worked with The Survivors Trust to streamline their existing website, removing outdated pages and information, before providing the site with a full redesign to bring it in line with their new branding.

Our key aim was to use the new site design to improve user experience and site readability while creating a cohesive, flowing website.

Creating a bespoke Content Management System

One of the key objectives was to create a website that was easy for The Survivors Trust’s staff to keep up to date.

We created a fully bespoke content management system within the site’s backend, allowing the TST team to add new members, blog posts, news articles and resources with ease.

Bringing in features

The Survivors Trust required a number of unique custom features, including a map of member locations, displaying relevant information.

We integrated the site with the Google Maps API to create an easy to manage, fully customisable member map which automatically updates as members are added and removed.

We added features such as postcode search and search radius customisation to further improve user experience.

Regular update meetings

At the request of The Survivors Trust, we conducted weekly meetings with their team, keeping them up to date with the progress of the build, creating an open feedback loop allowing us to make alterations to the site throughout the development process.

We welcome ongoing discussion throughout the development process, as this allowed us to deliver The Survivors Trust’s website on time, exactly to their specifications.

Ongoing support

Once the build was complete, we remained on hand through our Website Maintenance package to train the staff on how to use the new Content Management System and to provide minor updates to the UI to improve user experience.
